box palletizing robot

A box palletizing robot is selected against case size, layer pattern, infeed presentation and pallet exchange, not against a generic “packaging line” label. This page explains how those application conditions change payload, reach and gripper choice. Conventional layer palletizers remain a different forming method and are not implied unless a factory quotes them separately.

Changeover context

Operating context
Corrugated cases arriving on a conveyor, formed into an approved pallet pattern by a robot gripper, then discharged as a finished pallet. Bags, trays or bottles may share the same plant but they change grip and acceleration and must be named as separate SKUs.
Changeover context: Sample run

Run the smallest and the heaviest case, plus any SKU that uses an interlayer, because those three points usually expose grip and pattern failures. Cycle time should be counted as completed cases per minute after a full pallet, including the time to pick a slip sheet if that sheet is in the quoted scope. A sample that is empty, over-taped or missing the printed face will not prove vacuum grip on production cartons. If multiple cases are picked at once, each combination’s moving mass belongs in the payload check with the gripper. Representative samples remain the buyer’s to ship; this service does not store cartons.

Site readiness

Confirm conveyor height, case-turners, the space around the highest layer, fence gates, three-phase supply, compressed air demand and the PLC interface that starts pallet exchange. Footprint must include robot stroke, pallet stations and maintenance access, not only the arm base. Changeover parts such as cup plates should be listed if SKUs cannot share one tool. Dust, cold rooms or washdown change sealing and cabinet ratings and must be written before quotes are ranked.

Owner acceptance

Acceptance should cover the proposed SKU mix, pallet exchange and recovery from a missing or mispositioned package under an agreed safe procedure. Keep performance tied to the actual cell configuration rather than a robot-family brochure. FAT and SAT stay on the purchase contract. After the application notes are written, send them through the inquiry page or review catalog options. The gripper-load article and the cell-scope article remain the supporting notes for this cluster.
